Faculty Profile
Deborah L. Golemon, J.D., is an Instructor of Risk Management in ULM’s College of Business Administration. Ms. Golemon teaches Risk and Insurance, Property and Casualty Insurance, and Business Risk Management. In addition to teaching Risk Management courses, Ms. Golemon teaches Legal Environment of Business and Business Communication.
Ms. Golemon received her Juris Doctorate from Washington University School of Law in 1997 and is a member of the Missouri Bar, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, and the United States Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Golemon is a native of Monroe and received her Bachelor of Arts in History (summa cum laude) from Louisiana Tech University in 1988.
Prior to joining ULM’s faculty in 2008, Ms. Golemon worked for the United States Department of Justice for 10 years and served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri’s United States Attorney’s Office in St. Louis, Missouri. Her areas of practice included white-collar fraud, asset collection, and employment discrimination. As a litigator, Ms. Golemon specialized in addressing issues of first impression under the Mandatory Victim Restitution Act, a federal criminal statute mandating the collection of full restitution from white-collar fraud defendants. Ms. Golemon’s practice included both written and oral arguments before the United States District Court, the United States Bankruptcy Court, and the United States Courts of Appeals.
Ms. Golemon’s litigation background influences her current academic research, as she expands her work with the Mandatory Victim Restitution Act to include research into commercial crime insurance.
